Viens goûter le bétel que je t’ai préparé. Ses feuilles sont comme les ailes joyeuses du Phénix.

Chiquer les feuilles de bétel est une manière de célébrer une rencontre. Souvent c’est la jeune fille qui l’offre comme preuve d’amitié, & aussi d’amour.

Come and taste the betel I prepared for you. Its leaves fly like the joyful wings of the phoenix.

Chewing the betel leaves celebrates a meeting. The girl will offer it as a proof of friendship and maybe more.

Au pays de ma grand mère les champs de riz dorent au soleil  et la barque flotte, tranquille. Je reviendrai sur l’autre rive du fleuve et nos peines s’effaceront.

In my grandmother’s land the rice fields turns to gold & the boat glides peacefully. I will come back on the other bank of the river and our sorrows will vanish.
