BAKIDA fait suite au trio "Sand" de l’album "3 Trios ": le sable des déserts qui hantent les musiciens en quête d'ailleurs. Renaud Garcia Fons et Tino di Geraldo sont des partenaires idéaux pour cette quête, car, outre la flamme intérieure qui les anime, ils sont à la fois ancrés dans un terre de tradition (le flamenco surtout) et acteurs d'une vivante modernité.
J'aime à penser ce disque comme un banquet, où chacun des convives, après un plus ou moins long voyage, est venu converser, dans sa langue, son accent, sur le lointain et le proche, le doux et le salé... Alors, si les émotions s’accordent, des correspondances secrètes se découvrent et la musique peut devenir language universel. Chacun des plats de ce banquet a été préparé pour chaque invité, et l'on peut ainsi goûter à quelques rencontres inattendues entre l’ Espagne, la Norvège, la Turquie, l’Amérique, le Maghreb, la Sardaigne, le Viêt-nam bien sûr. Et les mélodies se transfigurent selon celui qui l'interprète.
BAKIDA n'est pas un travail sur une culture spécifique, comme l’étaient Tales from Viêt-nam ou Maghreb & Friends, mais plutôt une synthèse d’expériences & d’émotions, un geste de rassemblement d’influences et de désirs.
Puissent toutes ces couleurs, accents et épices se marier en une voix une et sincère, comme un milieu parmi le flot des cultures : Occident & Orient - du milieu à l’extrême, Sud et Nord - vibrant et magnétique.
BAKIDA is a continuation of the trio "Sand", from the "3 Trios" cd : sand of the deserts that haunt the musician’s dream of elsewhere. Renaud Garcia Fons et Tino di Geraldo are ideal partners for this quest, for the flame which burns inside them, for their roots in a land of tradition (mostly flamenco) and their active part in modernity.
I like to think of this record as a banquet, to which each guest has come through his own way, to converse about nearness and distance, sweet and salt... Then, if emotions are in tune, secret connections come into light and music can become a universal language. Each course of this banquet has been concocted for each guest, and one may relish some unexpected encounters : with Turkey, Norway, America, Spain, Sardinia, Algeria, and Viêt-nam of course. Thus the melodies will be transfigured by those will sing them.
Unlike Tales from Viêt-nam or Maghreb & Friends, BAKIDA does not deal with a specific culture. I rather see it as a synthesis of attainments and emotions, an inner motion that bears so many influences and dreams.
May all those colours, accents and spices gather in a sincere and in a one voice, like a middle path between the streams of cultures : West and East - middle and extreme, South and North - radiant and magnetic...
